  • What types of metal does Maryland Recycle Maryland Recycle and Penn Mar Recycle  Accept?

    Maryland Recycle & Penn Mar Recycle accept a wide range of ferrous and nonferrous metals, including steel, iron, aluminum, copper, brass, and more.

  • Do you offer roll-off containers for scrap metal?

    Yes, Maryland Recycle & Penn Mar Recycle provide roll-off containers for both commercial and residential customers to collect and store scrap metal on site.

  • Can I schedule regular scrap metal pickups for my business?

    Yes, commercial clients can set up scheduled pickups to ensure scrap metal is removed consistently and efficiently.

  • Do I need an appointment to drop-off scrap metal?

    No appointment is needed. Customers can visit any of our locations during business hours for drop-off.

  • Where are there locations for Maryland Recycle?

    Maryland Recycle has locations in Glen Burnie, Golden Ring, Elkridge, Forest Hill, and Baltimore. Penn Mar Recycle has one location in Shrewsbury, PA.

  • Is your Baltimore location open to the public?

    The Baltimore facility is designed primarily for commercial and industrial customers, offering easier access for large trucks and high-volume recycling.

  • Do I need to bring identification with me?

    Yes, all customers are required to bring a valid state-issued ID or drivers license when dropping off scrap metal. Under Maryland law, sellers must provide valid ID (e.g., driver’s license or other state‑issued photo identification) when selling scrap metal so the dealer can record their identity. 

  • How is scrap metal weighed and paid for?

    Scrap metal is weighed on our state certified scales, and payment is based on current market rates for each type of metal. Cash, check or ACH payments are available.

  • Are there any items you do not accept?

    We do not accept hazardous materials, lithium batteries, or items containing radioactive or toxic substances. Contact us if you’re unsure about a particular item.

  • Is there a minimum age to sell scrap metal?

    Yes. Maryland law requires that individuals selling scrap metal must be at least 18 years old. This ensures compliance with state regulations regarding identification, record-keeping, and legal accountability for scrap metal transactions.  

  • How do you ensure environmentally responsible recycling?

    At Maryland Recycle, all scrap metals are sorted, processed, and sent to licensed recycling facilities that follow strict environmental regulations. We continually adopt new practices to reduce our environmental impact and ensure that all metals are responsibly recycled and safely repurposed.


  • Can I bring scrap from outside Maryland?

    Yes, individuals can bring scrap metal from outside Maryland. However, all sellers must provide valid government-issued ID.
